Sea: a new photobook from Andrew Atkinson
We are thrilled to announce that our next photobook features 30 new black and white images from renowned photographer and printer, Andrew Atkinson. We believe that his first book Sea is very much overdue and it is now available for pre-orders. Andrew S. Gray has written a heartfelt introduction to the work. The 56-page hardback book will also be available as signed and handmade editions. Andrew will be printing signed A4 editions of four of the images. As a very special bonus, anyone buying a book and at least one A4 print will be entered into a draw. The winner of the draw will be able to choose their favourite print from the entire book and have Andrew print it out onto A3 paper together with his signature, strictly as an edition of 1.With everyone giving their time for free, all profits from this book and prints will be donated to Dementia UK – a specialist nursing charity that supports whole families. So, if you have any interest please read on and give serious consideration to making a pre-order and supporting such a worthwhile charity.

Sea
Since we have been publishing photobooks we had asked Andrew on several occasions if he wanted to make one of his own books. He was always “too busy” or never followed up on a positive lead. However in late 2024 he said he wanted to proceed and within days he had supplied well over 200 black and white images covering a range of styles. We quickly decided that this first book should concentrate on one particular subject and we whittled the images down to those involving the sea.Andy Gray was kind enough to write some words about Andrew, his image making and background. After a couple of friends gave us useful feedback on a rough first draft we sent the first proper copy to Andrew. After a couple of tweaks we are at the pre-order stage.

The book will be available in five purchasing options:
Standard edition at £25.00
Signed standard edition at £35.00

As a very special bonus anyone buying a book and at least one A4 print will be entered into a draw. The winner of the draw will be able to choose their favourite print from the entire book and have Andrew print it out onto A3 paper together with his signature. The chosen image will never be printed again at this size so will in effect be an edition of 1.

About
Photographs by:

Andrew Atkinson has woven moments into images, guided not by genre but by intuition, for over 40 years. He photographs what speaks to him — quiet light, shifting seasons, the subtle pull of a scene. In recent years, photography has become his sanctuary, a place where the noise of daily life fades and the landscape draws him into stillness.
Words by:
Andrew S. Gray is an image maker based in a small rural Northumbrian village only two fields away from the family farm he grew up on. With Northumberland as a home, its iconic but subtle landscapes, coastline and nature in general shaped his vision from an early age and continues to inspire him – though the thought of the challenge of a change of scene does appeal now and again.

Editing & Production by:

John Ash is an enthusiastic amateur photographer who especially loves landscapes. He self published two books in 2020 - Shoganai and Shinrin-Yoku which both demonstrate a more project-based emphasis to his work. John hand-makes his own photobooks.Website
Paul Gotts is another enthusiastic amateur. He takes images, makes his own photobooks and this will be the sixth published photobook that he has been part of.Along with John he runs the Making a Photobook series of workshops.
